Reply:Most universities, for computer science or programming applicants, will want you to have taken as much math, to as high a level as can while in high school. So a big "yes" to the calculus. In addition, they'll require you to take calc in college, so if you take it in high school, that class will be far easier for you.

What special education programs in San Antonio ,Texas, can help me get my high school diploma?
I just need a really good program that can help me get a high school diploma. I haven't been going to school cause regular school doesn't really work with me that well. I would really appreciate it if you can give me a list or something that can help me find special education programs in SA.

Get an IEP (individual educational plan) through your Sp. Ed. dept. and an ARD (attention review and dismissal). Then, go to AACOG (Alamo area Council of Governments) or DAR for more help and the SP. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise...an IEP (individual educational plan) is just as good as a "regular" diploma. Some kids are gifted, some are emotional and quite honestly most today are "at risk" for dropping out, so they need an IEP. Even smart kids (the gifted) are not honors, but they are a heck of a lot smarter than honors, their brains just work a bit different. Lots of skater kids are usually gifted. Lots of doctors and teachers' kids are usually gifted also. It's the combination of creativity and intelligence that usually causes a kid to be autistic or an indigo child.
In my opinion, kids with Sp. Ed. needs are really luckier than the regular kids because they have special priviledges and more government money is spent to help them succeed. Most counselors avoid this knowing that the government money has to go to these kids first, so they try to talk parents and students out of being in these programs.
Oh and thanks Doc...that was nice of you to mention me... just let me know if there are any other questions more specific to your needs. I have a gifted child and a indigo child and I have been teaching these kids since 1980 off and on. TAhere is a special place in my heart for kids. I like the Sp.Ed ones the most because they are truly the nices and most respectful. The regular ones make me sometimes want to just pull out my hair, but they will learn to eventually that everyone is needed in our world.

EDIT: Lalana, I knew you would have all the latest. My son had additional assistance as he was ADD and it caused some difficulties at first, next thing we knew he was on both the gifted and talented and special ed lists and we had trouble getting him out of the additional assistance. The schools in both Northside and North East were very helpful with him.

I am good at java programming. Is there any part time job I can do with this? I want to complete my school and college. Will programming affect this?

Call up some local software companies and just tell them your situation and ask if you can do any work for them. I did this at 15 and ended up getting into the software industry. Just make sure you finish school as well.
You may not end up getting great programming assignments at first, but you'll earn some money and get some experience. Good luck!

If you are on Windows, I agree, get Visual Basic.
