What are some of the programming skills needed?

What is the experience needed working with computers and the programming skills for Chemical or Materials Engineers?

Please be specific and list all programs or software!

What are some of the programming skills needed?
Just about every engineer should learn to program a computer. I would stick to learning C/C++. I suggest you start with the Microsoft Visual C++ v6.0. This may seem to be rather retro given that Visual Studio 2007 is out, but trust me, the newer versions of visual studio are such a pain in the *ss that you want to start out with something simpler.

Also, learn to program embedded microcontrollers (8051, Coldfire, MSP430, ARM, and the like).
Reply:Go to a website of a n Engineering collage and see what the students are studying

The idea is to use different type of softwrare to solve engineering complex problem....software will be only a small part of the study

You can make also a search in google and see software to sell to the engineering you want

Good luck
