You may have seen the show "The Dog Whisperer." This is the website for Cesar Millan, who takes in and rehabilitates abused dogs. The Millan Foundation's "goal is to provide financial support and rehabilitation expertise to shelters throughout the United States."
Reply:This is a no-kill shelter that is doing great work! http://www.bestfriends.org/

The above are all great organizations!
Reply:there are tons of places, you might want to check out some web sites like peta.com or aspca.org there are sooooo many rescue groups, and they always need donations.
Reply:the ASPCA is a non-profit organization that takes in these abused animals the strays and gives them a good home if you watch animal planet there is a program called R.O.A.R. try going to www.animalplanet.com there is a lot of programs they advertise here for that kind of stuff. : )
Reply:Your dollar will do the most good at a small local shelter or rescue.. Make sure they are 501 (c) first...

If you go to Petfinder.com , you can type in your zipcode and find local rescues and shelters.. Read their pages and then decide which one you want to donate too.. Some are completely volunteer run, some have a few employees..

I don't want to bash the bigger guys, but, they won't accomplish as much good with your money as your local shelter may be able to do.. Certainly don't donate to PETA unless you like paying for ads.. They spend 83% of their donations on advertising themselves and only 8% helping living breathing animals.. I'd go with the local shelter myself.. Just read what they're about first and decide which one you support..
