Help with Linear Programming problem?

Reecca makes machine stitched quilts. It takes 36 hours and 8 yards of material to make a small quilt. It takes 24 hours and 12 yards of material to make a large quilt. She has at most 648 hours and 192 yards of material to use in making quilts. How many of each quilt can she make?

All I really need help with is the first question, It says "Identify your variables and grand totals".

I dont understand what to put for that.

Help with Linear Programming problem?
I read this as follows:

x is the number of small quilts made

y is the number of large quilts made

Set up your constraint equations so that

648 %26gt;= 36x + 24 y

192%26gt;= 8x + 12y

And try to maximize x + y

The answer should be x = 13.2 and y = 7.2

This fully utilizes both resources.
