There seems to be 100s of programs that generate help files. I'd like to use something that generates searchable windows help, html help for posting online and downloadable pdf. Seems a lot of people like Adobe RoboHelp, but there is no trial and a license is $1000. Is this what you use and prefer or are there other packages that work well? Our software is desktop and online, written in C# and ASP.NET if that is pertinent.
What program have you used and recommend for creating help files for software?
I use Help and Manual which is inexpensive (I believe there is a free trial) and in my opinion VERY good. Its feature sheet is extensive and it can publish many types of help files (CHM, EBook, HTML, PDF etc.) from a single source.
Reply:I like Dr. Explain. It is simple to use, and isn't too expensive.
