What is the best programming language for mechanical engineer?
MATLAB is powerful and simple to learn, but often too slow for intensive calculations.

FORTRAN is often joked about for being outdated but its use is pretty widespread in many complex engineering applications. I would recommend this over C or C++. I think it is a little easier to pick up (although C++ was my first language so maybe that was why it took a little longer for me to use proficiently) and very powerful.
Reply:I'd say go with C/C++/C# or a VB.NET
Reply:most engineers use MATLAB as their prime source for programming. this is mainly for mathematical processing.

you should also consider a friendly language like Visual Basic.NET or Java.
Reply:Easiest to learn is BASIC, try Microsoft Visual Basic.

Best to learn would be C+.
