I am looking at starting a new project and I am just beginning mapping it out and designing it. This will involve me choosing a programming language and I was wondering what criteria I should pick it on for my project. I know C#, VB.net, C++, Python and Java so it is obviously out of them. I know I will probably use Python for one bit of it, but it is designing the main program that I need help with.
Need help deciding on a programming language?
I use C / C++ for everything possible. I find the flexibility of it superior to all the others. I think it's more fun too :)
Reply:Actually it depends on kind of project ur making..
VB.net for windows application
C# for multithreaded windows application
C++ if no GUI is needed
JAVA if any kind of web interface is needed
Python ofcourse

Reply:idk if ur talented enough and know C++ and python etc... i suggest going with brainfuck or some sort of stronger language, ruby or C# are powerful but very hard to use.
if your still a beginner go with basic.
and it depends whatp rogramming u want to do, whtere its online programming or application programming.

Reply:First compare the features of languages and from that make out which is the suitable language for your project. I think it is better to go for open source since it is cost effective, portable and having endless features.
Reply:Mostly the choice comes down to personal taste, but other factors to take into account are:
* Are there any good libraries available for any of the languages that will reduce the amount you have to do?
* Are other people going to be working on the project, if so what are their preferences?
Reply:C++ would be most suitable...
at least thats what ild use.
