I didn't claim and carelessly forgot to report that i took some money from my 401k, got audit and asked to pay back money..now with penalities and interest rates i will be paying a long time, are their programs that can help out that are free and legal to cut these expenses in half..i see it on tv and all over the web, but who is good?

Stay away from all those firms you see advertised on TV that allege that they can reduce your tax liabilities...Ripoffreport.com is full of complaints against them....These firms don't solve your tax problems....they exploit them for their own benefit.
You or your attorney can attempt to negotiate an OIC (Offer in Compromise)...
