What is the best program to help clean up your computer and make it run faster?

My computer is moving like a turtle and I keep getting low disk space warnings. So, I took off almost all my pictures, movie clips, college papers, powerpoints, etc. that I could but I still keep getting the same errors! I've looked at different websites to purchase a program to help me out, but I am not sure which one is the best.

FYI - I don't think it is a virus because I use Norton, which has always been pretty reliable.

What is the best program to help clean up your computer and make it run faster?
tuneup utility may help u try .....
Reply:I reccommend norton win doctor which comes with utilities,

however you may solve the problem by formating.

backup your important stuff, format and reeinstall windows. this will ensure no disk space warnings and a fresh smooth windows.

every some long time, you just have to do it to give your computer another fresh start.
Reply:try a different utility software such as "System Mechanic Professional 7.0" or "System Suite" - i've switched to system mechanic from norton and have never been happier with my pc's performance since then.
Reply:CrapCleaner from www.ccleaner.com and if not resolved then

www.spywareinfo.com for malare removal.
Reply:Best---Reg Cure----Fix errors,Clean computer,speed up your computer.

There is reviews:

Reply:many cleaning utilities have already been mentioned...but you may also want to make sure that:

1. You have enough RAM (you can't get too much!)(get same type...best would be from the OEM...make sure it is compat.)

2. You also may need to 'flash the BIOS' ...= upgrading it to the newest version....

these are 2 very important factors when trying to maximize the speed of your computer.
Reply:The truth of what is slowing your computer down... Windows itself. Every time it has an update to protect against flaws in Windows, it causes the PC to slow down by bloating Windows even more than it already is.. It is also the cause of the low disk space.

To speed up your computer, you need to disable some of the automatic startup programs. Especially IM's, Browsers and other programs you can start by using the All Programs list.

You need to go into System Information to change your startup files. You may need to get a bigger Hard Disk Drive. Or, at least, a second HDD to store music, movies, files and other personal information. On the second HDD, you can also put the swap file and all temp folders to free up the main HDD. This second HDD can be external or internal depending on its use.

Also, Nortons doesn't always catch all viruses. No antivirus program can. But, at least you are using one. When you get tired of paying for this protection, you can get free services that work just as good, or sometimes better than Norton or McAfee.... And, they are free.
Reply:1. Use an anti-spyware software like AdAware, latest version. Such software can be downloaded from the Net or found in CDs attached to PC magazines. This is because Adware slows down a computer heaps.

2. Use a registry cleaner like RegCleaner, latest version. Same method to get it. This is because unwanted registry entries can slow down a computer heaps too.

3. Only then defragment your computer through the Control Panel. That should clear up a lot of space.
Reply:I am assuming you are using Windows XP. There is a Clean up utility which is given with Windows XP itself. So I will suggest at first you should use it to clean up your hard disk.

Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup

Choose the Disk Drive to clean up. You haven't mentioned for which drive you are getting the low disk space warning. I assume for the default Windows Drive You are getting the Warning. So choose the Disk Drive first to clean up.

It should do basic Cleanup. But I will suggest you use a good third Party Software to clean up. I will recommend Window Washer from the company Webroot.

You haven't mentioned what is the Memory you are having in your Computer. Because you need to optimize your Computer for better performance on the basis of that. If you want to improve your Computer performance with what you have I will suggest you to Check this forum Topic "Make Windows XP Faster Then Before"

I wish that will help.
Reply:First of all... its probably best to go with a clean install of windows, however you may not want to do this.

Lavasoft adaware is a good program for cleaning up spyware.

Right click on your hard drive in my computer, select properties and click tools. Then defragment your hard drive. This will help.

Adaware is free, never pay for software that will "speed up your computer" I am sure its a joke.
Reply:there are many different programs you can buy, but you probably dont know that they're are ones already installed on you computer. open up the start bar, then go to all programs. then open assessories, then system tools. now click on the one names DISK CLEANUP. let this run, it may take a few hours. when it is done, repeat the process above, but when you get to system tools, selesct disk defragmentor. run this program and let it go. it may take a few hours. nothing wrong with this. watever you do, do not shut down your computer in the middle of one of theese processes. good luck, email me if you need anything.
Reply:Comp USA has a diagnostics section in the store, I think it's around $40
Reply:Some points

1 Norton is the most unreliable anti virus program

2 download spybot S%26amp;D

Reply:I am assuming you are running Windows OS. Before you do any thing set a restore point. Click on start menu, all programs, accessories and then tools. Run fragment and then disc clean up this should help, also look at Hard Disc space available before and after. Uninstall any unneeded programs that you do not use, but if you might want to use one later do not uninstall unless you have soft ware disc and recovery disc so you can reinstall at a later time/date. Any thing you do to free up HD space and add more Ram/memory can help. Also make sure security is up to date and run a full system scan. It would help to know what computer and OS,Ram and Hard Drive size you have to better suggest a fix.

Hope this helps
